Book Dr. Joeletta Patrick
More Than Just a Resume
Early Years
Greensboro Roots
Growing up in North Carolina, I learned that hard work and community support can open doors to extraordinary opportunities—including a career that would take me from the classroom to mission control
College
NC A&T State University
Earned my B.S. in Electrical Engineering, where I discovered my passion for solving complex technical problems and helping others reach their potential. This dual focus—technical excellence and people development—would define my entire career.
NASA Era
Flight Controller & Educational Leader
Spent over 20 years at NASA, beginning as a Flight Controller for the International Space Station at Johnson Space Center, where split-second decisions and clear communication were mission-critical. Later, I directed STEM education programs across California (overseeing Ames Research Center and Armstrong Flight Research Center) and served as National Space Grant Project Manager and Minority University Research and Education Project Manager at NASA Headquarters. In these roles, I created pathways for thousands of students—particularly from underrepresented communities—to pursue careers in STEM fields.
Academic Growth
Advanced Degrees & Research
Earned both a Master of Business Administration and Doctorate in Business Administration from the University of Maryland Global Campus. My doctoral research examined management decision-making in federal agencies—expertise that now informs the frameworks I share with audiences across the country.
Current Mission
CEO & Speaker
As CEO of JD Patrick and Associates, I help organizations develop leaders, close workforce skill gaps, and build STEM pipelines that create real opportunities. I bring NASA's frameworks for high-stakes decision-making to audiences in education, government, and industry—bridging the gap between access and opportunity for all.
